Finding Harmony in Times of Change : A Weekend of Training and Performance

Finding Harmony in Times of Change : A Weekend of Training and Performance

As communities grow globally aware and more intertwined, it is increasingly important to find ways to nurture progressive means of communication. In what ways can people connect that transcend the inadequacies of literal language and cultural heterogeneity?
This April, Will C. (USA), Anastasia Vorobyova and Egor Utkin (Russia) will meet in Montreal, Canada to explore the ways Playback Theatre can be a tool that harmonizes community through body and sound. Participants will work together to discover how movement and music can produce a universal language. This journey will include a performance by Vozdukh, Project of Physical Theatre and Playback Theatre, and a two-day workshop where music and movement interweave.

Friday, April 7th : Opening workshop: 4pm to 6pm and Performance: 8pm to 10pm
Saturday, April 8th : 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm.
Sunday, April 9th : 10am to 2pm.

“Breakthrough”

Breaking rules, moving through barriers, even mischief-making stories can be called up by this theme!

Playback is an improvisational form of theatre where audience members share stories from their lives and actors play them back on the spot. The ensemble attempts to capture the essence of the teller’s story using improvisational structures, fabric and musical instruments.
